The mission of the International Trends and Services (ITS) facet is to assist with the educational, health, and cultural needs of people of African descent. The Las Vegas (NV) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated has sponsored a variety of programs meeting the goals of the International Trends and Services facet.
The Las Vegas (NV) Chapter of ITS have devised a Pen Pal Program, forging connections between African students and their peers from a local Junior High School. In its early years, the program targeted grades 4,5 and 6 at Rainbow Dreams Academy and students at Igamba and Emmanuel primary schools.
Since the inception of the Sanitary Pad Program in 2014, the Las Vegas (NV) Chapter has provided over 150 girls sanitary products to over a year to assist girls in the ability to attend school during their menstrual cycle. Currently, the Las Vegas (NV) Chapter provides personal care products like sanitary towels and underwear for girls and boys attending the Igamba School in Kenya, ensuring their dignity and comfort. ITS has also partnered with a noble group in Kenya, to educate young girls about the dangers of Human Trafficking, shielding them from the shadows of harm.
We hold events throughout the year to raise awareness and funds for our cause. We need volunteers to help plan and execute these events, from setting up decorations to managing logistics.
The Las Vegas Chapter donated beans for students at Ker Boarding School.
